What Makes Neretva Different
EUROPE’S MOST
UNIQUE KITE
LAGOON
The Neretva delta is not a beach — it’s a network of river channels, wetlands and shallow lagoons where the river meets the Adriatic. The water is warm, flat, and rarely more than knee-deep for hundreds of meters.
Thermal winds build predictably through the afternoon as the land heats up — starting gentle and climbing to 12–18 knots by early afternoon. It’s ideal for freeriding, body dragging, and building board time.
The surrounding landscape — flamingos, reed beds, and citrus orchards — makes it unlike any kite session you’ve ever had.

SPOT FACTS
FAQ — NERETVA KITESURF
Is the Neretva delta good for beginners?
Yes — the Neretva is one of the best spots in Croatia for beginners and intermediates. The water is extremely shallow (knee-deep for hundreds of meters), there’s no current, no chop, and thermal winds build gradually giving you time to warm up.
What kite size should I use at Neretva?
With typical winds of 12–18 knots, most riders use a 12–14m kite. On lighter thermal days a 14–17m works well. Our local guide will advise on the best size for the day’s conditions.
How far is the Neretva from Dubrovnik?
The Neretva delta is approximately 60 minutes from Dubrovnik by car — the closest of our three spots. Private Mercedes transfer from your accommodation is included in the session price.
What makes Neretva different from other kite spots?
The Neretva is a river delta — one of the last pristine wetlands in the Mediterranean. You kite on a shallow lagoon surrounded by reed beds, flamingos, and citrus orchards. The flat water and gradual thermal winds make it unlike any other spot in Croatia.
