WHY VIGANJ IS
CROATIA’S BEST
KITE SPOT

Viganj sits on the narrowest point of the Pelješac Peninsula, where the channel between the mainland and the island of Korčula creates a natural wind funnel. When the Maestral builds over the Adriatic each morning, it accelerates through this corridor and arrives at Viganj with perfect consistency.

The water is shallow and flat for hundreds of meters — ideal for freeriding, practicing jumps, or attempting freestyle tricks without fear. When the wind is up, it’s one of the most reliable kite sessions you’ll find anywhere in Europe.

Between sets: cold beer at a beach bar, grilled fish, and one of the most dramatic sunset views in Dalmatia.

FAQ — VIGANJ KITESURF

How far is Viganj from Dubrovnik?

Viganj is approximately 90 minutes from Dubrovnik by car via the Pelješac Peninsula. We provide private Mercedes transfer directly from your Dubrovnik accommodation — no need to rent a car.

What wind does Viganj get?

Viganj is famous for the Maestral — a thermal NW/W wind that builds over the Adriatic each morning and typically arrives at 11am, blowing 15–25 knots until evening. July and August are the most reliable months.

Is Viganj good for beginners?

Viganj is best suited for intermediate and advanced riders. The Maestral can be strong and gusty. For beginners, we recommend the Neretva delta which has lighter, more consistent thermal winds and very shallow flat water.

What kite size should I use at Viganj?

In July and August with 18–25 knots of Maestral, most riders use a 9–12m kite. On lighter days (15–18 kn) a 12–14m works well. Our local guide will advise you on the day based on the actual conditions.
